Strictly regulated — pathway depends on your licensing route
Course overview
The electrical trade is the most tightly controlled qualification we advise on, and we would rather explain why than pretend otherwise. An electrician's licence in NSW is issued by Fair Trading and requires the qualification plus completed capstone assessment — the arrangements are strict because unlicensed electrical work kills people.
The qualification itself covers electrical principles, installation and wiring of circuits, switchboards, testing and fault diagnosis, the Wiring Rules (AS/NZS 3000), and safe isolation and working practices. It is technically demanding and assessed accordingly.
For overseas-trained electricians there is a defined recognition route rather than a simple RPL portfolio, and for Australian workers the standard route remains an apprenticeship. What we do here is give you a clear reading of which route applies to you, connect you with an RTO genuinely authorised to deliver and assess it, and stay with you through a process that most people find bureaucratic. If your situation does not support a realistic pathway, we will tell you that in the first session rather than take your money.

Is this you?
Overseas-trained electricians seeking Australian recognition, electrical trades assistants planning a formal pathway, and licensed electricians upgrading or adding endorsements.
Not sure you fit? Ring anyway. The most common thing Mahmoud hears is “I probably do not qualify” from someone who does. The session costs nothing and the answer is honest either way.
The CME Pathway Method
We map your work history and existing tickets against the qualification you need.
A straight answer on which pathway fits — RPL, gap training or full course.
We place you with the partner RTO best suited to your evidence and situation.
We stay with you through the paperwork until the certificate is in your hand.
Questions we get asked
Not in the way people usually mean. Electrical is the most restricted trade we deal with — the standard Australian route is a completed apprenticeship plus capstone assessment, and licensing is controlled by NSW Fair Trading. Overseas-trained electricians have a defined recognition route with its own technical assessment. Anyone offering you an electrical licence through a simple paperwork exercise is not being straight with you.
There is a formal offshore and migrant skills recognition pathway, which typically involves a technical skills assessment, gap training against Australian requirements, and capstone assessment before licensing. It is a real route and people complete it — it is simply not fast. Book a session and we will map your specific situation, including which body assesses you.
Because being wrong here costs you thousands of dollars and months of your life, and because unlicensed electrical work is a genuine safety and legal risk. Mahmoud's position is consistent: if we cannot see a realistic pathway for you, we will say so at the first session. That honesty is why clients send us their friends.
Trade assistant experience is valuable supporting evidence and can shorten aspects of a formal pathway, but it does not substitute for the qualification or the capstone. Bring your work history to the assessment and we will show you what it does and does not do.
Worth asking, and we raise it often. Air conditioning and refrigeration is a related, strongly in-demand trade with its own licensing, and for some clients it is a more achievable route to licensed technical work. Ramzi came to us and this is exactly the direction that worked for him.
Important. Certification Made Easy is not a Registered Training Organisation (RTO). We operate solely as a consulting agency, providing advisory and referral services to our clients through our trusted RTO partners.
Course codes, units and any licensing requirements are set by the training package and the relevant regulator, and change over time. Confirm current details with your RTO and, where a licence is involved, with the regulator in your state.
