Koori completed his RPL with full paperwork and college support from CME
Course overview
Koori came to us having framed houses for years without a certificate to show for it. Mahmoud drove him to the college, sat with him through the paperwork, and stayed on it until the Certificate III in Carpentry was in his hand. That is the standard job for this qualification: the skill is already there, the documentation is not.
Carpentry is the backbone trade of Australian residential construction. The qualification covers wall and roof framing, formwork, doors, windows and fit-out, reading construction drawings, setting out accurately, and working safely with the tools and at heights. It is also the most common foundation for a later Certificate IV and a builder's licence, which is why we often plan the two together from the first conversation.
If you have been on the tools — here or overseas — RPL is the pathway that respects that. What it requires is evidence: photographs of your work over time, references from builders and site supervisors, payslips or ABN records, and any tickets you already hold. We help you build that pack and get it in front of an assessor who will actually engage with it.

Is this you?
Experienced carpenters without the certificate, overseas-trained tradespeople needing Australian recognition, labourers who have effectively been doing carpentry work, and anyone planning a builder's licence later.
Not sure you fit? Ring anyway. The most common thing Mahmoud hears is “I probably do not qualify” from someone who does. The session costs nothing and the answer is honest either way.
The CME Pathway Method
We map your work history and existing tickets against the qualification you need.
A straight answer on which pathway fits — RPL, gap training or full course.
We place you with the partner RTO best suited to your evidence and situation.
We stay with you through the paperwork until the certificate is in your hand.
Questions we get asked
Yes — this is one of the strongest RPL trades, and it is a large part of what we do. It is not automatic. An assessor has to be satisfied you can perform to the standard, which usually means a portfolio plus a practical or technical interview component. Where there are genuine gaps, you complete gap training on just those units rather than the whole qualification.
Photographs of your work, ideally dated and showing the stages of a job rather than only the finished product; written references from builders, supervisors or clients on letterhead; payslips, invoices or ABN and BAS records; your White Card and any other tickets; and any overseas qualification papers with certified translations.
Yes — General Construction Induction is mandatory to work on any Australian construction site, and you will need it regardless of the pathway. If you do not have one we will point you to a compliant provider and schedule it alongside your qualification.
Not on its own. Certificate III makes you a qualified carpenter; a NSW builder's licence requires the Certificate IV in Building and Construction plus the relevant experience Fair Trading requires. A great many of our clients do both, and we usually map the two-step plan out at the first session.
Overseas trade qualifications are rarely recognised as a direct equivalent, but they are strong supporting evidence within an RPL application. In practice the combination of your overseas papers, Australian work history and a skills assessment is what gets you there. We have run this pathway many times.
Important. Certification Made Easy is not a Registered Training Organisation (RTO). We operate solely as a consulting agency, providing advisory and referral services to our clients through our trusted RTO partners.
Course codes, units and any licensing requirements are set by the training package and the relevant regulator, and change over time. Confirm current details with your RTO and, where a licence is involved, with the regulator in your state.
