What we do

Six services, one job: getting you qualified

Everything below is advisory and referral work. The training and the certificate come from our partner Registered Training Organisations — the strategy, the matching and the persistence come from us.

Service 01

Recognition of Prior Learning

The service we are best known for, and the one that saves people the most time and money.

Who it is for Tradespeople, carers, supervisors and managers who have been doing the work for years — here or overseas — with nothing on paper to prove it.

RPL is a formal assessment of skills you already hold against the units of a nationally recognised qualification. Our job is everything around that assessment: working out whether your experience genuinely supports it, identifying the right qualification, building the evidence pack, and placing you with an RTO whose assessors will engage with it properly.

The assessment itself belongs to the RTO, and it is a real process — a self-assessment against each unit, an evidence portfolio, a structured competency conversation with a qualified assessor, and usually a practical demonstration or a call to a supervisor who can verify your work. The assessor must be satisfied the evidence is valid, sufficient, authentic and current before a single unit is granted. Nobody can shortcut that, and you can be found not yet competent.

The honest part matters here. Plenty of operators will take an RPL fee from anyone. We assess first, and if your evidence will not carry an application we say so — usually recommending gap training or a full course instead. That conversation costs you nothing and saves you a great deal.

The process

  1. Free assessment session — we map your history against a qualification
  2. An honest verdict on whether RPL, gap training or full study fits
  3. Evidence pack built with you: references, photographs, work samples, records
  4. Matched with a partner RTO suited to your trade and evidence
  5. We stay on it through assessment until the certificate issues

Service 02

Gap Training

The middle road — and, in practice, the most common outcome of an honest assessment.

Who it is for Anyone whose experience is strong but partial, especially overseas-trained tradespeople and people returning to an industry after time away.

Very few people meet every unit of a qualification through experience alone, particularly if they trained in another country or came up informally. Gap training closes the difference: RPL covers what you can evidence, and short targeted training covers the units where there is a genuine shortfall.

The gaps are rarely about skill. They are usually about Australian codes, standards and compliance — the Wiring Rules for an electrician, AS/NZS 3500 for a plumber, the National Construction Code for a builder, food safety regulation for a chef. Those are exactly the areas an assessor will not wave through, and rightly so.

The process

  1. Skills gap analysis against the specific units of your qualification
  2. A written picture of exactly which units need training
  3. Delivery arranged around your work — online, blended or on campus
  4. Combined RPL and gap-training enrolment with one provider
  5. Certification once all units are satisfied

Service 03

Full Course Enrolment

When you are entering a new industry, studying properly is the fastest route, not the slowest.

Who it is for Career changers, school leavers, and anyone whose experience sits outside what an assessor can verify.

If you are changing career, or your experience cannot be documented well enough to carry an assessment, a full course is the right call. Our value here is provider matching. RTOs are not interchangeable: they differ in delivery mode, assessor availability, campus location, intake timing and how well they handle students who work full time.

Getting that match right is what decides whether a course fits around your life or fights it. We work backwards from the job or licence you want, check what funding you may be eligible for, and put you with the provider best suited to how you actually need to study.

The process

  1. Course selection based on the job you want, not the brochure
  2. RTO matching on delivery mode, location and intake timing
  3. Smart and Skilled and funding options checked before you enrol
  4. Enrolment, USI and paperwork handled with you
  5. Follow-up through to completion

Service 04

Trade Licensing Support

A qualification and a licence are two different things. Confusing them costs people months.

Who it is for Builders, carpenters, plumbers, electricians, HVAC technicians, painters, tilers, waterproofers and security professionals.

A qualification is issued by an RTO. A licence is issued by a regulator — in New South Wales, usually NSW Fair Trading, and for security work the NSW Police Force. Understanding that distinction, and working backwards from the licence rather than forwards from a course, is what separates a three-month outcome from a two-year one.

We advise on which licence class you actually need, which qualification supports it, what experience the regulator requires alongside it, and what tickets and checks need starting early. Allan lodged his builder's licence application on exactly this basis, with his Certificate IV and his documentation already in order. We cannot promise anyone a licence — nobody honestly can, and any timeframe depends on the regulator, not on us — but we can make sure nothing in your application is a surprise.

The process

  1. Identify the exact licence class the work you want requires
  2. Confirm the qualification and experience the regulator asks for
  3. Start tickets and checks early — White Card, heights, police checks, ARC
  4. Complete the qualification through RPL, gap training or study
  5. Assemble and support the licence application itself

Service 05

Overseas Qualification Recognition

Your experience is real. Getting Australia to recognise it is a process, not a formality.

Who it is for Migrants and new arrivals with trade, care, hospitality, business or technical qualifications and experience from overseas.

Overseas qualifications are rarely accepted as a direct Australian equivalent. What they are is strong supporting evidence within an RPL application — particularly combined with Australian work history and, where required, a formal skills assessment.

We are candid about the trades where this is hard. Electrical is the most restricted qualification we advise on and runs through a defined recognition route with its own technical assessment. Plumbing carries genuine standards gaps for most overseas-trained tradespeople. We would rather explain that at the first session than let you find out expensively later.

The process

  1. Review of your overseas qualifications, references and work history
  2. Advice on certified translations and document requirements
  3. Realistic mapping to the Australian qualification and its gaps
  4. Referral to the correct assessing body where one applies
  5. RPL and gap training arranged through a suitable partner RTO

Service 06

Smart and Skilled Guidance

NSW subsidises a long list of qualifications. Most people who qualify never find out.

Who it is for NSW residents and workers, particularly in aged care, disability, early childhood, community services and construction.

Smart and Skilled is the NSW Government programme that subsidises training toward qualifications on the NSW Skills List. The core eligibility test is simple — 15 or over, living or working in NSW, left school, and an Australian citizen, permanent resident, humanitarian visa holder or New Zealand citizen — but entitlement also depends on the qualification and on what you already hold.

Subsidised does not mean free: most students still pay a student fee, with concessions and exemptions available in some circumstances. We check your position properly, confirm whether the qualification you want is currently subsidised, and refer you to partner RTOs approved to deliver it under the programme.

The process

  1. Run the four-question eligibility check
  2. Confirm whether your qualification is currently on the NSW Skills List
  3. Check how existing qualifications affect your entitlement
  4. Referral to an approved Smart and Skilled provider
  5. Where subsidy does not apply, we look at other funding and payment options

The CME Pathway Method

Whichever service you need, the sequence is the same — and it is the fourth step that decides whether you finish.

Discover

We start with the job you actually want, not a course catalogue. Mahmoud maps your work history, overseas experience, existing tickets and any study you have done, then tells you what it is worth against a nationally recognised qualification.

Free pathway session

Advise

You get a straight answer on which of the three pathways fits — and if your evidence will not carry an RPL application, we say so. We also confirm the licence or registration your qualification needs to support, before any money changes hands.

RPL, gap training or full course

Connect

We place you with the partner Registered Training Organisation best suited to your qualification, your evidence and how you need to study. Different RTOs are strong in different areas; matching that properly is most of the job.

Matched to the right RTO

Support

This is the part most consultancies skip. We stay with you through the paperwork, chase what needs chasing, and keep going until the certificate is in your hand — including coming to the college with you when that is what it takes.
