Three things that make the first conversation useful
Your work history
Roughly which employers, roughly which years, and what you actually did. It does not need to be a formal résumé for a first call — a clear summary is enough.
Any tickets you hold
White Card, first aid, forklift, working at heights, overseas qualifications, part-completed study. All of it may count and much of it people forget to mention.
The job you are actually after
“I want to be a licensed builder” is far more useful than “I want a construction course”. The destination determines the qualification.
