Course overview
The Certificate III in Individual Support is the entry qualification for the aged care and disability sectors, and it is the single most requested course we handle. Employers across Sydney treat it as the minimum standard for anyone providing hands-on personal care, and NDIS providers increasingly require it before they will roster you at all.
What makes this qualification unusual is how many people already meet a large part of it without realising. If you have cared for an ageing parent, worked as a paid carer without certification, supported a family member with a disability, or worked in care overseas, that experience is assessable evidence. We sit down with you, map what you have against the units, and tell you honestly whether RPL, a short gap-training package, or the full course is the faster route.
The course carries a mandatory work placement — usually around 120 hours — which our partner RTOs coordinate with host facilities. That placement is often where a job offer comes from, so we treat it as part of the strategy rather than a box to tick.

Is this you?
People moving into care work for the first time, informal or family carers who want the qualification their experience already earns, overseas-trained carers needing Australian recognition, and anyone needing the certificate before an NDIS provider will roster them.
Not sure you fit? Ring anyway. The most common thing Mahmoud hears is “I probably do not qualify” from someone who does. The session costs nothing and the answer is honest either way.
The CME Pathway Method
We map your work history and existing tickets against the qualification you need.
A straight answer on which pathway fits — RPL, gap training or full course.
We place you with the partner RTO best suited to your evidence and situation.
We stay with you through the paperwork until the certificate is in your hand.
Questions we get asked
Partly, and it depends on your evidence. Practical care experience — paid, volunteer or overseas — can be recognised against many units. However, the qualification includes a mandatory supervised work placement that cannot be waived, so most RPL candidates in this field end up on a blended pathway: RPL for what you can prove, gap training for the rest, plus the placement. We will tell you exactly where you stand before you pay anything.
With strong evidence and a blended RPL pathway, commonly a few months. Studying the full course typically runs longer, depending on the RTO's delivery mode and how quickly your placement hours can be scheduled. Timeframes are set by the partner RTO, not by us — we push to keep them moving.
Yes. A National Police Check is required before work placement, and NDIS Worker Screening is required for most disability roles. We flag these early because waiting on a clearance is the most common reason a placement start date slips.
Individual Support is frequently on the NSW Smart and Skilled subsidised list, and this is one of the most common qualifications our clients receive a subsidy for. Eligibility depends on your residency, age and prior qualifications. Use our eligibility checker or call Mahmoud and we will check it properly.
You do not have to pick one and close the other off. The core units are shared; the electives determine the emphasis. If you want maximum employability across both aged care and NDIS work, we usually recommend an elective mix that keeps both doors open, and we will map that with you before enrolment.
Important. Certification Made Easy is not a Registered Training Organisation (RTO). We operate solely as a consulting agency, providing advisory and referral services to our clients through our trusted RTO partners.
Course codes, units and any licensing requirements are set by the training package and the relevant regulator, and change over time. Confirm current details with your RTO and, where a licence is involved, with the regulator in your state.
