Course overview
About this qualification
TESOL stands for Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. Australia takes in a high number of international students and migrants every year, and all of them need English language support — which is why qualified English teachers stay in demand here rather than only overseas.
The work is broader than most people assume. Private language schools, universities, vocational colleges and community centres all employ TESOL-qualified teachers. There is also a large and growing online market teaching students across South East Asia — Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and elsewhere — which can be done from home and fits around other work.
A word on the two names you will see. A nationally accredited Australian TESOL qualification and the Cambridge CELTA are different things: CELTA is an international qualification administered by Cambridge, while an accredited TESOL certificate sits inside the Australian system and is delivered by a Registered Training Organisation with it on their scope. Employers here accept both, but they are not the same piece of paper, and anybody telling you otherwise is guessing. We will tell you which one actually suits where you want to teach.

Is this you?
Who this course suits
People who want to teach English in Australia or online, migrants and bilingual speakers who understand the learning journey first-hand, career changers looking for work that travels, and anyone already tutoring informally who wants the qualification behind it.
Not sure you fit? Ring anyway. The most common thing Mahmoud hears is “I probably do not qualify” from someone who does. The session costs nothing and the answer is honest either way.

Questions we get asked
Frequently asked questions
No. Employers look for English proficiency, not birthplace, and bilingual teachers are often at an advantage because they have learned the language themselves and understand exactly where students get stuck. Some employers and some overseas online platforms do set their own preferences, and we will be straight with you about which ones.
CELTA is administered internationally by Cambridge. An accredited Australian TESOL qualification sits inside the Australian system and is issued by a Registered Training Organisation with it on their scope of registration. Both are recognised by employers here. Which one suits you depends on where you intend to teach, and that is worth a conversation before you pay for either.
Sometimes, partly. If you have genuinely taught English — in a classroom, a community programme or online — and you can evidence it with references, timetables, lesson plans and student records, some units may be granted. Teaching your own language informally to friends and family will not usually carry an application on its own. We will give you an honest read before you commit.
It is real, and it is a large market — English tutoring platforms serving students across South East Asia recruit continuously. It is also genuinely variable: rates, hours and platform conditions differ a great deal, and some platforms are far better to work for than others. Treat it as flexible income rather than a guaranteed full-time wage.
Not in a primary or secondary school classroom. Teaching in an Australian school requires teacher registration and an education degree. A TESOL qualification is for teaching English to adults — in language schools, colleges, universities, community programmes and online.
Important. Certification Made Easy is not a Registered Training Organisation (RTO). We operate solely as a consulting agency, providing advisory and referral services to our clients through our trusted RTO partners.
Course codes, units and any licensing requirements are set by the training package and the relevant regulator, and change over time. Confirm current details with your RTO and, where a licence is involved, with the regulator in your state.
