Diploma of Early Childhood Education & Care
- Lead Educator / Room Leader
- Centre Coordinator
Sydney, NSW · servicing all of Australia
Diploma upgrade and room leadership responsibility lift this materially.
Placement scheduling is usually the pacing factor
Course overview
This is the qualification that legally puts you on the floor as an educator. Under the National Quality Framework, early childhood services must meet staff-to-child ratios using qualified or actively-studying educators, which is why centres will often hire you the moment you enrol rather than waiting until you finish.
The content is genuinely practical: how children develop, how play becomes learning, how to keep a room safe without making it joyless, and how to work with families who are trusting you with the most important thing they have. Nutrition, first aid principles, health and safety and the National Quality Standard all sit inside it.
We work with a lot of parents, grandparents and family day care assistants who have been raising and minding children for decades. That experience counts toward RPL, but not automatically — it has to be evidenced against the units, and a supervised placement is still required. Our job is to tell you which parts you can claim and which you will need to sit.

Is this you?
Career changers who want work that matters, parents and grandparents with years of hands-on child care, centre assistants who need the qualification for ratio purposes, and school leavers wanting a fast, employable start.
Not sure you fit? Ring anyway. The most common thing Mahmoud hears is “I probably do not qualify” from someone who does. The session costs nothing and the answer is honest either way.
The CME Pathway Method
We map your work history and existing tickets against the qualification you need.
A straight answer on which pathway fits — RPL, gap training or full course.
We place you with the partner RTO best suited to your evidence and situation.
We stay with you through the paperwork until the certificate is in your hand.
Questions we get asked
Yes, and most of our clients do. Under the National Quality Framework an actively-enrolled student can count toward ratio in certain circumstances, which is why centres are often willing to hire you at enrolment. Getting employed early also solves your placement problem in one move.
On its own, no — assessors need evidence from a workplace or formal care setting where you were supervised and assessable. Family day care, nannying, church or community crèche work, teacher's aide work and overseas childcare employment all count. We will be straight with you about what your evidence actually supports before you commit.
A NSW Working with Children Check is mandatory before placement, and it is free for volunteers and low-cost for paid workers. Apply for it the day you enrol — it is the single most common cause of a delayed placement start.
Early Childhood Education and Care is regularly on the NSW subsidised list, and it is one of the qualifications we most often secure a subsidy for. Eligibility depends on your age, residency status and existing qualifications. Run our checker or call and we will confirm it for you.
Only if you already have relevant experience or the Certificate III. The Diploma is a leadership qualification — it assumes you can already run a room. Most people are better served finishing the Certificate III, getting employed, then upgrading to the Diploma with the centre often contributing toward the cost.
Important. Certification Made Easy is not a Registered Training Organisation (RTO). We operate solely as a consulting agency, providing advisory and referral services to our clients through our trusted RTO partners.
Course codes, units and any licensing requirements are set by the training package and the relevant regulator, and change over time. Confirm current details with your RTO and, where a licence is involved, with the regulator in your state.
